Hare Krishna! The Film

Suddenly thrust into the raging counterculture, he speaks of the world’s real need – a need for a revolution in consciousness. This captures the attention of a generation of youth seeking answers and ignites a worldwide spiritual movement, now known as the Hare Krishna movement.

Directed by John Griesser and co-directed by Jean Griesser and Lauren Ross, HARE KRISHNA! The Mantra, the Movement and the Swami who started it all will have its world premiere at Illuminate Film Festival on June 3rd in Sedona, AZ followed by a nationwide release in theaters beginning in New York City on June 16th, 2017.

Using never-before- seen materials, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s own recorded words, and interviews with scholars and his early followers, the film takes the audience behind-the-scenes of a cultural movement born in the artistic and intellectual scene of New York’s Bowery, the hippie mecca of Haight Ashbury, and the Beatle mania of London, to meet the Swami who started it all.
